New Presidential Candidate Emerges for 2012

While waiting for my wife this week I happened in to one of those "political" types. He had taken up residence on the corner and was doing the grunt work of handing out literature and personally spreading the word about a guy he politically supported. I had another half hour to kill, so I figured what the hell, and I engaged him to see what he had to say. The fellow turned out to be very well spoken and apparently was well informed about his candidate's views on practically any topic I could throw at him. It seemed quite entertaining to us both. He was very enthusiastic with his support. In fact, though his politician's candidacy had certainly not been announced yet, he had it on good authority that this guys was running for president in 2012!

Turns out I believe the guy he was campaigning for actually had one hell of a platform! However, I am not sure if it was just this guy's enthusiasm gone contagious on me, so I figured I would relay some of his views here and see if I got suckered.

On the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

His candidate promises that his first action, immediately fallowing his inauguration, would be a complete exodus from both countries. He stated that war, particularly these wars were repugnant and pointless. His platform states that a satisfactory end or "winning" of these wars was impossible. Indeed he turned the tables on me and asked me what "winning" these wars would mean? What is the goal? How do we get there? What, exactly, has to happen for us to raise our arms in victory and the vanquished to agree that they certainly had had their ass kicked and gladly surrender? He further asked me how I would feel if say some huge and powerful nation occupied my country, my state, or my community. What would I do if my families home were bombed, child killed, place of employment destroyed? If all of the society structure that I took for granted were destroyed, there was no safety net, there were no police or structure to address grievances, what would I do?

Well, the answer is obvious! I would literally be a one fighting mad son-of-a-bitch! IT'S ON BABY!

He said that was the common reaction. However, his candidate actually stated that even if they HAD done us harm, they had invaded us or had made some kind of brutal attack, his policy would be to just forget about it! In fact we should show the aggressor compassion and empathy and try to get to the bottom of the motivation which would have caused the attack in the first place! Further, no matter how mad and vengeful we were feeling about their encroachment, the proper thing to do was just forgive them, move on, and offer any assistance that could reasonably be expected to prevent such from happening again.

On the Health Care Crisis

His candidate's position on this was quite clear.  Universal Health Care is a basic Human Right. He believes that of all things inherent in an enlightened society, wellness and medical healing should never be rationed based upon the size of your bank account or found circumstances. In fact, we all had a responsibility as Human Beings to insure that the economically depressed, the social outcasts, even the insane or criminally minded individuals of our society should be provided Health Care as a basic fundament. In short, no matter who you are or what your circumstances, if you are sick, injured or require attention in any way, go see a doctor.

On Homosexual Marraige

He said that his candidate planned to abolish ALL laws that interfered with the union of any consenting adult individuals. Further all laws which could be construed as discriminatory against any particular group of people would be voided. His platform states that until any of us can proclaim absolute adherence to all laws and universal social mores that we simply do not have the authority to proclaim the activities or actions of others as illegal or immoral.

On Prayer in Public Schools

This candidate specifically states that prayer and one's specific mythical or mystical beliefs is a personal and private thing. It is the believer's responsibility to participate in such in private. Further, publicly doing such should logically lead to public inspection of the displayer's motivation for doing so.

On the Financial Crisis, the Profit Motive and the Accumulation of Wealth

This candidate's literature says that the accumulation of wealth is inherently corrupting. That all people should simply live within their means and if they happen to get a windfall or an exorbitant profit, it is their responsibility to redistribute the wealth to others and that our focus as a society should be a level playing field for all. In fact he actually advocates the selling off of all unnecessary assets and donating the proceeds to charity! The official position is that even the storing away for a rainy day or a retirement nest egg is ridiculous when there is so much need in the present. Take care of today today, tomorrow will take care of itself.

On Government and Society Structure

His platform calls for a total societal restructuring. He believes that all assets should be community owned. That no one individual or group of individuals has any inherent right to any physical property. That all people within a society are bound together by an interwoven alliance, one relying upon another. That the well being of the whole outweighs the luxury of any individual.

Okay, that's enough. Just typing this stuff out has cleared my head. As much of this guy's platform as I agree with, there is no way in hell it will get past the American Citizenry. FOX News will have a fucking field day! The radical right wingers, the Christian Fundamentalists and the American inbred fear of the godless communists will doom this poor fellow to failure before his campaign ever gets off the ground. In fact he'll be damn lucky not to be imprisoned or assassinated!

Alright then, if you happen to see this guy on the ballot you heard it here first. His name is Jesus Christ and his literature was this big fat book, The Holy Bible. If you happen across one of these "Bible" things, here is some references to save you having to read through all kinds of bat shit crazy stuff: Mark 10:25, Mark 10:17-22, Matthew 6:19, Matthew 6:24, Luke 6:24, Acts 2:44, Matthew 5:28-30, Matthew 5:38-39, Matthew 5:44, Matthew 7:12, Matthew 7:1-5, Matthew 6:5-6, Matthew 6:14-15, Matthew 6:33-34, and John 13:34-35.
