I have only heard two arguments against improving our Health Care System that hold any water; 1.) Absolute Libertarianism. They believe that government action or legislation of any kind is wrong. They support the abolition of the state in all forms. EVERYTHING is to be privatized, education, road building, the military, EVERYTHING. Zero government regulation in any sphere of life. 2.) "I got my Health Insurance, FUCK EVERYONE ELSE". Both of which are very naive ways of looking at the world, but at least they are honest and I can respect that.
The United States Health Care System is ranked 37th in the world, behind the likes of Costa Rica and Chili to name but two. We are ranked 24th in Healthy Life Expectancy and 44th in Infant Mortality. Yet we spend more on Health Care than ANY OTHER NATION IN THE WORLD. Our system is beyond fucked up. It should be absolutely dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up.
Right wing radicals flippantly tossing around words like Socialism, Nazism and Communism serve no purpose but to stir up fear for the sake of fear in the uneducated and the uninformed of our society. Socialism, Nazism and Communism are three distinct and different forms of government. Do a little research and see what the Nazis did with Socialists and Communists. Tea Baggers wondering in circles with homemade posters of a Hitler mustached Obama above "SOCIALIST" in big block letters are simply showing their ignorance and cannot be taken seriously. Furthermore the Soviet Union, which we were all raised to fear and loath, was an iron fisted dictatorship which had about as much in common with Karl Marx's Communism as the United States has in an Absolute Monarchy.
Of the three words that Tea Baggers love to label those against them, "Socialist" has the most relevance. However supporting Health Care for the citizens of the United States is no more "Socialist" than Medicare, The Social Security Administration, the Federal Interstate Roads System, your local Police Force or the billions of dollars spent on projects in every state in this Nation. This is why I always ask Tea Baggers if they support the dismantling of the Social Security System and Medicare. If they do not, their whole "Socialism" soap box is kicked out from under them. Again, they cannot be taken seriously.
I respect your right to believe and say whatever you choose. My only hope is that enough people like myself will take the time to address the rhetoric, misinformation and unsupported fears that have been fed to them by the likes of Fox News and all the folks financially raping us under the current system.
